It is used on the flat teeth used to chew food: premolars and molars. These teeth are criss-crossed by crevices and grooves where food residues tend to lodge. This favors the proliferation of bacteria, which take advantage of the opportunity to feed on the sugar they contain. These teeth are also more vulnerable when they first appear. Young permanent teeth are more fragile, as their enamel is not yet fully hardened.
